When Creating a Google Classroom Account be Sure to Sign Up as a TEACHER!! |
InstructionGoogle Classroom - Google Classroom is a learning management system. It was released in August 2014 so is a pretty new product in Google's Apps for Education suite. It dos not have nearly the number of features as blackboard, schoology, canvas or some other course management systems but there are new features being added all the time.
The thing that Google Classroom does really well is simplifying the creation, distribution and organization of assignments in a paperless way. Teachers can create assignments and distribute to students electronically. A copy of the assignment is created for each student who can then Turn In the assignment digitally once complete. Teachers can then grade and add comments digitally too. When you create a class in Google Classroom, a folder in Google Drive will automatically be created for your class. Go to Google Drive - Look for a folder called Classroom, then you new class folder will be inside the Classroom folder.
Google will also create a separate folder for each assignment in your Google classroom which is where individual student files are collected when they are turned in.
Watch these two videos for another look at how Google Classroom automatically creates folders for you in Google Drive.
A folder called Classroom will automatically be created in your Google Drive. Within this folder, you will see a folder for each Google Classroom course you create. In each Class folder, there will be a folder automatically created for each assignment you create. When students turn in assignments, a copy of their file will automatically be added to the folder for that assignment in Google Drive.
