Explore Tool - This Instruction this week is focused on some features of Google Docs. One tool that is popular is the Explore Tool, formerly know as the Research Tool. You can access the Explore tool by Opening a Google Doc, Sheet or Slide, from the menu select Tools/Explore. The Explore tab shows on the right of the screen. This tool lets you research websites and search photos right in Google Docs. It also allows you to easily cite your website resources too. Students LOVE this tool. Show it to all your students!! Watch the video to learn how to use the Research tool.
Tasks3. Open the Week 2 Practice File from Google Drive. Use the Research Tool to Search for a topic you are teaching or something that interests you. Add this under your name in the document. Cite the resource.

Translate documents to other languages. Translate any Google document into a variety of languages. To Translate a document do the following:
Open the Document in Google Docs, from the menu select Tools/Translate Document
Type what you want the name of the translated document to be, then select the language to translate into from the drop down menu. Select OK.
Google will make a separate copy of the document in the language you choose. You will then have 2 copies of the document, original file plus a translated copy of the file.

NOTE: When printing from Google Docs, the comments will not print. If you want to print comments, you must export the file as a Microsoft Word document and print from Word. From the menu in Google Docs, select File/Download As, then select Microsoft Word.
This will save the Google Doc in Word format. Double click to open the file in Word, then Print from Word.

Add-Ons - Google Docs may seem to be a very basic word processing tool at first glance without many of the features of Microsoft Word. However, with Google Docs you can install Add-ons that allow you to extend the power of Google Docs. There are Add-ons for almost everything (mail merge, diagrams, etc.)
