InstructionGoogle+ - Google+ is Google's version of a social network, it's like Facebook but with a few unique features. Two features we will use in this class to communicate are Google Circles and Google Hangouts.
Google Communities - In Google+ you can add connections like you add friends on Facebook. With Google Communities you can organize your connections into groups so you can see at a glance all of the posts made by only the people in a particular group. These groups are called Communities. Google Hangouts - Hangouts is a video chat tool where up to 10 people can video chat at once. With Hangouts you can communicate with video, audio only, or text messages and you can share photos, files and even share your computer screen. Hangouts on Air allows you to schedule and broadcast live events that publish to your Youtube channel. This feature is currently disabled with your fm google account, but you could try it out with a personal google account if interested. Watch the Video Below to learn how to use these tools. |

Google Drive - Goolge Drive is great for file storage. Google for Education schools now have unlimited space in Google Drive so you can save EVERYTHING there, including large photo and video files, and you will never run out of space. Having access to Google Drive files on any Internet connected device makes storing files in Drive very convenient. Any file in google drive can also be published as a webpage, including videos and photos. The real power of Google Drive is the Sharing and Collaborating features.

Google Docs - Google Docs is Google’s version of Word. Docs has some unique features that are great for use in the classroom. One feature is the Revision History. Google keeps a history of all the edits in a document. You are able to view and restore previous versions of a document so if students are working on a group project, you can see who contributed what to the document. If someone accidentally deletes the file, it can always be restored. More features of Google Docs will be explored next week.
Watch the Video Below to learn how to use these Google Docs features. |
